grown too regularly in the same field or the risk of disease builds up. Oilseed rape is always grown as part of a rotation and rarely returns to the same field more than one year in six. Around 400,000 hectares of oil seed rape is grown annually. It is an important crop and currently the UK is about 90% self sufficient.
